From concept to technical design
Before switching on the laser, the work begins with technical graphic design. The tree of life needed a clear visual balance between its crown, trunk and roots, while maintaining organic lines and fine details that could be engraved without losing definition.
File preparation is key to the final result. In this case, the pattern was designed specifically for CO₂ laser engraving, adjusting depths, thicknesses and spacing to allow it to be filled with resin afterwards.

CO₂ laser cutting and engraving on wood
Once the design was approved, the piece was cut and engraved using a CO₂ laser on carefully selected wood. The laser defines each line precisely, producing a deep, clean engraving that adds texture and relief.
The engraving is more than a simple surface drawing. Each line becomes part of the wood, creating natural shadows and a sense of depth that cannot be achieved with printing or basic manual techniques.

Resin filling: colour, contrast and depth
After engraving, resin was manually filled into selected areas of the design. This process is carried out carefully and patiently, controlling the pour and curing to obtain a uniform finish.
The resin adds colour contrast, volume and a very distinctive visual finish. Combined with the engraved wood, it reinforces the crafted character of the piece and makes each tree of life truly unique.
