Introduction
At Vanco Studio, vector graphic design is not a decorative step, but a critical part of the manufacturing process. Everything that is cut, engraved, printed or reproduced precisely always starts with a well-constructed vector file.
The image accompanying this article shows a real selection of work developed in our workshop: digital designs prepared for laser cutting, engraving, CNC and decorative products. Files designed to be manufactured, not simply to look good on screen.
What vector graphic design really is
Vector graphic design is based on mathematical shapes, not pixels. This means a vector file can be scaled, modified and manufactured without loss of quality. Formats such as SVG or DXF are essential when a design has to move from the screen to a machine.
In digital fabrication, an incorrect vector design causes cutting errors, inconsistent engraving or outright unusable parts. That is why not every “beautiful” design is suitable for manufacturing.
Designing for the machine, not just the design
One of the most common mistakes is trying to manufacture from raster images, poorly converted logos or downloaded files that have not been technically reviewed. At Vanco Studio we always design taking into account:
- The type of technology that will be used (CO₂ laser, fibre laser, CNC, printing).
- The final material (wood, metal, acrylic, textile).
- Thicknesses, tolerances and the machine’s real limits.
- File optimisation to reduce production time and errors.
The result is files that work the first time, without improvisation in the workshop.
Normalise instead of redesigning from scratch
Not every project requires inventing a completely new design. In many cases we work from existing references, base models or files supplied by the customer. Normalising a design means adapting it to the correct technical standard so it can be manufactured reliably.
This way of working saves time, reduces costs and avoids errors without compromising the final result. It is a technical decision, not a shortcut.
Real applications of professional vector design
The vector graphic design we produce at Vanco Studio is used in many real contexts:
From digital files ready for download to exclusive designs for decoration, signage, customised products or complete series for industrial manufacturing. Each file is prepared with a clear objective and defined use.
Technical graphic design at Vanco Studio
As a digital fabrication studio in Girona, we treat vector graphic design as an integrated part of the production process. We do not design to decorate; we design to manufacture.
If you need professional vector files, whether for your own production or to send for manufacturing, we help you prepare them correctly from the start.
