Introduction
In textile personalisation, every detail counts. Labels and embroidery are not the only elements of a garment that can convey brand identity. Custom metal buttons can also become a distinctive feature when they incorporate a company or brand logo.
For this project, we carried out laser engraving of a logo on metal buttons intended for garments. The objective was clear: to integrate the company’s visual identity directly into the garment hardware while maintaining a clean, durable and permanent finish.
Why laser engraving is ideal for metal buttons
When working with metal and small parts such as buttons, the marking method is critical. Methods such as pad printing or printing can deteriorate with use, washing or constant rubbing.
That is why in these cases we use fibre laser engraving, a technology specifically designed to mark metals with high precision and without physical contact with the part.
Its main advantages include:
- Permanent marking that does not wear off with use or washing
- High precision even on small parts
- Ability to reproduce complex logos
- Clean finish without ink or chemicals
This makes it an ideal solution for metal elements integrated into garments, such as buttons, buckles, plates or accessories.
The technical challenge: engraving small parts precisely
One of the most important aspects when engraving buttons is their size. These parts are normally only a few millimetres in diameter, so the logo must be adapted correctly to maintain legibility and visual balance.
Before engraving, several aspects are reviewed:
First, simplification of the logo if necessary. Some very fine details can be lost on small surfaces.
Second, the exact position of the engraving. Because the parts are circular, it is important to centre the design correctly so that all units remain consistent.
Third, the laser parameters. Adjusting power, speed and frequency is key to achieving the right contrast without deforming or over-marking the metal.
Repeatable, consistent production
Once the parameters have been adjusted, laser engraving allows the process to be repeated with great precision on every unit. This is particularly important when producing batches of buttons for garments, where each part must have exactly the same result.
The laser works directly on the metal surface, generating contrast through microscopic modification of the material. This produces an elegant, durable mark that is part of the piece rather than an added layer.
When it makes sense to personalise buttons
Personalising buttons is not always necessary, but it can add considerable value in certain contexts:
- Clothing brands that want to reinforce their identity in every detail
- Corporate garments or uniforms
- Limited editions or special collections
- Premium textile accessories
In these cases, an apparently small element such as a button can become a very powerful branding detail.
A small detail that makes a difference
Manufacturing and personalising metal components for textiles requires precision, knowledge of the material and the right technology. Fibre laser engraving makes it possible to work on small parts while maintaining quality, repeatability and durability.
When the aim is to integrate brand identity directly into the garment, this type of solution provides a professional and permanent result.
If you are developing a garment or accessory and need to mark metal parts with your logo, we can assess the project and determine the best technical solution.
